Solarstone are Rich Mowatt and Andy Bury... The UK based production duo record and produce under many aliases,
including the Young Parisians.
They have been working together since 1995 and have amassed a huge worldwide
following and support from just about every DJ 'worth their salt' over the last
10 years.
Their musical style ranges from Quality Trance to melodic progressive house and
'after-hours chillout soundtracks for the chilled generation' - depending on
what mood they're in at the time.
They came from completely different musical backgrounds, though their roots in 80's
acid-house were the same. Rich was keyboard player with Indie-dance band
Emission, and Andy was a pirate radio DJ spinning house, funk and soul. After a
few studio sessions a strong musical bond grew between them, and their unique
trance sound was born..
Being the brainchild behind no few than 8 aliases, Rich and Andy
have been negotiating a relentless release schedule for over a decade. They
have been responsible for some of the most memorable moments and stand out
tunes in DJ’s sets across a range of genre’s and their music has been a
constant feature on nearly every major compilation series including Global
Underground, Euphoria, Deeper Shades of Hooj, Perfecto and the Superclub
series’ such as Gatecrasher, Cream, Slinky & Godskitchen.
Their original releases have featured on some of the most
recognisable labels in the world including Hooj Choons, Perfecto, Virgin,Platipus, ID&T &
Ministry of Sound, with stand out tracks including timeless classics like “The
Calling”, “Solarcoaster” & “ Severn Cities”, which made
the Top 40 UK National Chart. As a duo renowned for delivering the goods the
pair have also stamped their calling card on a host of remixes including Energy
52’s “Café Del Mar”, Space Manoeuvres “Stage One”, Moonmans’
“Galaxia” & Planet Perfecto’s “Bullet in the Gun”. Some how among all this
they also managed to find time to compile and mix two compilations, Lost
Language’s “Exhibition” & Chilled Euphoria, which hit number 3 in the
albums charts selling in excess of 80,000 copies!
In addition to providing some of dance music's biggest records over the last 10
years, they run 2 highly successful record labels, Deepblue and MadeInEngland,
which release a steady stream of top quality uk trance.
"It's a career littered with chance meetings, unbelievable highs and some
crushing disappointments, but the collective of brilliant musicians and
vocalists they have around them always ensures they deliver the goods. The
scene has undergone some strange mutations over the past few years, but it
always returns to where it began... Grooves, Melody and Emotion- without which
there would be no dance music scene, and there would be no Solarstone. "
